Boston, first incorporated as a town in 1630, and as a city in
1822, is one of America's oldest cities, with a rich economic
and social history. What began as a homesteading community
eventually evolved into a center for social and political
change. Boston earned its place in history in the days preceding
the Revolutionary War.
Now a captivating cosmopolitan city and the economic and
cultural hub of New England, Boston still maintains a European
edge and is loaded with charm, character and culture. This
vibrant urban destination boasts a spectrum of world-class
entertainment and arts, action-packed sports, legendary
landmarks, a sizzling nightlife and dining scene, and exciting
events and exciting attractions
Built on almost 400 years of history, Boston holds tightly onto
its past as it parades into the future. Visitors will find
well-preserved dashes of the Colonial, Federal, and Victorian
eras alongside a modern, walkable city infused with green spaces
and waterfront. However, it is still possible to rock the cradle
of democracy in Boston by following the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail
through the city, exploring 16 museums, churches, meeting
houses, and other historically significant sites along the way.
