21st century educators know that PERFORMANCE MATTERS. And performance means many different things to many different people; the ability to execute a plan; to accomplish a goal; or to achieve success. These are all skills required by educators and students in this ever evolving world of learning. While plans, goals, and measurements of success vary from school to school, one thing remains constant: performance above and beyond expectations is critical to success.
In Fort Worth, Texas, the location of this year’s conference, performance matters as well! For over 150 years, cowboys have driven longhorn cattle to the Stockyards for trade. These skilled horsemen (known as drovers) are able to expertly lead a heard of 1,000 pound animals using classic driving techniques to “perform” this task.
Be it cowboys of the late 1800's or today, or educators and students alike, the critical question becomes: how do you drive your students, your staff, and yourself to outstanding performance? The opportunities and methods to encourage, motivate, and lead within your organizations are numerous; where do you begin?
